Moving from the Free Version to the Full Version of Our Forex EA
If you are currently using the free version of one of our Forex Expert Advisors, such as Hedge Scalper EA, AI Trend EA, or Correlation EA and you want to upgrade to the full paid version, you may wonder what happens if you already have running trades.
The good news is that you do not need to close any of your existing trades when switching from the free version to the full version.
The full version can take over and continue managing the trades that were originally opened by the free version.
How to Move from the Free Version to the Full Version
Follow these steps carefully.
Step1, Stop Trading with the Free Version
First, stop trading with the free version of the EA.
Make sure the free version is no longer actively trading before installing the full version.
Do not close your existing trades. Leave them open.
Step2, Download the Full Version
Download the paid/full version of the EA that you purchased.
Make sure you download the correct version for your platform:
- MT4:
.ex4 - MT5:
.ex5
Install the full version into your MetaTrader platform as you normally would.
Step3, Remove the Free Version from Your Charts
Remove the free version EA from all charts where it is currently attached.
Again, do not close the trades.
Your existing positions can remain open on the account.
Step4, Create a New Set File
Use the Set File System to create a new .set file based on your trading balance and risk choice.
Step5, Attach the Full Version to the Chart
Open the required symbol’s chart and drag the full version EA onto the chart.
Load the .set file you just generated.
Check the settings and make sure everything is configured correctly.
Step6, Repeat for All Running Symbols
If the free version is currently managing trades on multiple symbols, repeat the same process for each symbol:
- Remove the free EA.
- Attach the full EA.
- Load the appropriate set file.
- Check the settings.
- Move to the next symbol.
Step7, Allow Trading Again
Once the full version has been installed and configured on all required charts, enable trading again.
That’s it.
Your full version EA can now take over the management of the existing trades and continue operating normally.
Common Questions
Can I Upgrade While I Have Running Trades?
Yes. You can move from the free version to the full version even if your account currently has open trades.
There is no need to close your existing positions before upgrading.
Simply stop the free EA from opening or managing new trades, install the full version, load your settings, and allow the new EA to take over.
Do I Need to Close My Existing Trades?
No.
This is one of the most important points when upgrading.
You do not need to close positions opened by the free version simply because you are switching to the full version.
As long as the full version is configured correctly, it can recognize and manage the relevant existing trades according to its normal trading logic.
Important: Stop the Free EA Before Installing the Full Version
To avoid having both versions operating at the same time, make sure the free version is stopped before you activate the full version.
Running both versions simultaneously can cause unwanted trading or management conflicts.
The recommended process is:
Stop Free Version → Install Full Version → Remove Free EA → Load Set File → Attach Full EA → Repeat for Other Symbols → Enable Trading
Quick Example
Suppose you are using the free version of Hedge Scalper EA and currently have open trades on EURUSD, GBPUSD.
You want to upgrade to the paid version.
You do not need to close those trades.
Simply:
- Stop the free EA.
- Download and install the full Hedge Scalper EA.
- Remove the free EA from EURUSD, GBPUSD, and XAUUSD.
- Create the appropriate set files.
- Attach the full EA to each chart.
- Load the corresponding set files.
- Enable trading again.
The existing trades can remain open while the full version takes over.
The Same Process Applies to Our Other EAs
This upgrade procedure can also be used when moving from the free version to the full version of other supported EAs, including:
The exact settings and trading behavior may differ between EAs, but the basic upgrade process remains the same.
